Rev. Morris Critser
The Rev. Morris L. "Bud" Critser, 61, Clayton, LA, died Feb. 19 at Riverland Medical 
Center after an extended illness.  He was a native of Anderson and was current pastor 
of Fould's Church of God in Clayton, LA.  He was pastor for over 30 years, ministering 
in the mid 1970s at Fairmount, South Whitley, Middlebury and Florida.  He was a member 
of the Louisiana Ministerial Association and Pastor Fellowship and was owner of Critser 
Construction Co.  He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.  Survivors include 
his wife, Rahma Lee Critser; his mother, Hazel Hamel of Anderson; two daughters, Cheral
Critser of Big Springs, Texas and Mrs. Mark (Linda) Pferfferkorn of Fort Wayne.  One 
son, the Rev. Sherman L. Critser of Tanzania, East Africa; three sisters, Beatrice 
Nemyer of Newport, VA and Mrs. Ralph (Norma) Eythichson and Mrs. Elmer (Violet) Thomas, 
both of Anderson; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Services were 
held Friday in Anderson with Rev. Clifford Black Jr. Officiating and burial was at 
Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Edward Jones
Edward H. Jones, Sr., 80, Sarasota, FL, died at 10:08 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, in 
Sarasota Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Jones retired from Fisher Body in 1972 and lived 
in Gas City most of his life.  He moved to Florida in 1978.  He was a World War II 
Army veteran.  He is survived by his wife, Margaret; one son, Edward H., Kokomo; 
six daughters, Barbara Dilley, Safety Harbor, FL, Bettie Peters, Beatrice Simpkins, 
Bunny Maynard, all of Fairmount.  Becky Wood, Jonesboro; Beverly Williams, Muncie; 
three stepdaughters, Sharon Waldorf, Cedar Lake; Glenda Miller, Marion, and Lane 
Bruce, Sarasota.  One brother, Earl, LaPuente, CA; one sister, Cecil Rice, Cookes-
ville, TN; 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren and four 
step-great grandchildren.  Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, in a 
funeral home in Gas City with the Rev. Roy Tomlin officiating.  Burial will be in 
Riverside cemetery.

Jerry Roe
Jerry L. Roe, 41, Marion died at 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb 22, in his home after a short 
illness.  Mr. Roe was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.  Employed by Bee-
line Taxi, Marion, he was a member of American Legion in Marion.  He is survived by 
his wife, Doris E.; his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Aaron (Alma) Roe, Fairmount; a brother, 
William, Marion; two sisters, Alice McKoon, Marion, and Mrs. Danny (Mary) Skeens, 
Jonesboro.  Services were held Monday, Feb. 26, in a funeral home in Marion with the 
Rev. Leon Russell and the Rev. Roy Tomlin officiating.  Burial was in Marion National 
cemetery.

Elaine Sites
Elaine Sites, 36, of Indianapolis, died Feb. 16 at St. Vincent Hospital.  She was born 
to Robert and Ellen (Short) Mitchell of RR 1, Elwood.  She was a member of St. Joseph 
Catholic church.  Besides her parents, she is survived by two children, Mitchell Robert 
Sites and Aaron Christopher Sites of Indianapolis, and one brother, Mark Mitchell, of 
Osgood.  Private services were held Feb. 19 with burial at St. Joseph cemetery, Elwood.

Lawrence Whitted
Lawrence B. Whitted, 62, Marion, died at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb 21, in Howard Com-
munity Hospital, Kokomo.  Born in Bedford, Mr. Whitted had lived most of his life in 
the Grant county area.  He retired after 30 years as a production worker at Glass Con-
tainer, Gas City, and had worked at Active Products, Marion.  He was a member of the 
Bethel Church of Lord Jesus Christ, Marion.  He is survived by his wife, Beulah; four 
sons, Alex, Marion; Larry, Fairmount; Louis, Kokomo, and Erbie, Pea Ridge, AR.  Two 
daughters, Mrs. Steven (Shirley) Althouse, Jalapa, and Mrs. David (Lola) Little, Troy, 
OH.  Three brothers, Frank Whitted, Muncie, and George and Chester, both of Bedford; a 
sister, Mrs. Pearl Willis, Orlando, FL; and 14 grandchildren.  Services were held 
Saturday, Feb. 24 in Bethel Church of Lord Jesus Christ with the Rev. John Wilson 
officiating.  Burial was in Jefferson cemetery.

Zenna H. Jones
Zenna Howell Jones, 91, Methodist Memorial Home, Warren, died at 12:25 a.m. Thursday, 
March 1, in the home.  Mrs. Jones was born in Grant county and was a retired element-
ary school teacher and homemaker.  She was a member of the Avondale Methodist Church, 
Muncie, and a charter member of the Methodist Women's Society.  She was a graduate of 
the Fairmount Academy and Muncie Normal College.  She was the mother of three children, 
a daughter, Ellen Ann who passed away at an early age, and two sons, Ralph and Ross 
Jones, who passed away in 1965.  Survivors include two grandsons, Jerry Jones, Yorba 
Linda, CA and Tony R. Jones, Hesperia, CA; a sister Mrs. John (Ethel) Underwood, Fair-
mount, and four great grandchildren.  Services were held Saturday, March 3, in the Hunt 
Funeral Home, with Xen Harvey officiating.  Burial was in Park cemetery.

Jean Mercer
Jean Mercer, 57, Anderson, died Feb 27 at St. John's Medical Center after a brief ill-
ness.  She was born in Overton county, TN, and had lived in Anderson for the past 35 
years.  She was a homemaker and a member of Daleville Church of Christ.  Survivors 
include her husband, Samuel A. Mercer; her mother, Dorothy Stover of Livingston, TN; 
one son, Bobby Mercer of Anderson.  Two daughters, Donna Miller of Fairmount and Paula 
Hodson of Kempner, Texas; two brothers, Willard Richardson and E.B. Richardson, both of 
Evansville; one sister, Wanda Kennedy of Livingston,TN; and several nieces and nephews.  
Services were held last Thursday with Mark Nunley officiating.  Burial was in Bronnen-
berg cemetery.

Effie Dickey
Effie M. Dickey, 80, Gas City, died at 11:05 a.m. Sunday, March 4, in Marion General 
Hospital.  She was born in Hilton, VA and moved to this area in 1941. She was a former 
employee of Paranite Wire, Jonesboro and retired from Crystal Cleaners.  She was a 
member of the Wesleyan church in Jonesboro. She is survived by four sons, Eugene Lewis 
and William Lewis, both of Jonesboro, and Bobby J. Lewis and James Dickey, both of 
Fairmount.  Two daughters, Mrs. James (Thelma) Markland and Mrs. Donald (Nancy) Leach, 
both of Gas City; 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.  Services were held 
Tuesday, Mar. 6, in a funeral home in Gas City with the Rev. Melvin Planck officiating.  
Burial was in Riverside cemetery.

Don Wilson
Don Paul Wilson, 59, Greeneville, TN, died Thursday night, March 1, in the Greeneville 
Hospital.  Mr. Wilson was a life resident of Greene county, TN. He was a darkroom tech-
nician for the Greeneville Daily Sun.  He is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Johnson, 
Fairmount, two sons, Don Wilson Jr.,Fairmount, and Barry Wilson, Greeneville, TN.  Five 
sisters, Mildred Shipley, Hilda Freshour, Virginia Long, Charlene Cutshall and Linda 
Summey, all of Greeneville; four brothers, Roger, Godfrey, D.C. and Hobart, Jr., all of 
Greeneville; and three grandchildren.  Services were held Sunday, March 4, in a funeral 
home in Greeneville with the Revs. Haven Lowe and Ronald Hicks officiating.  Burial was 
in the Mt. Hebron cemetery, Greeneville.

William H. Hounshell
William H. Hounshell, 88, 1400 N. Elm street, Fairmount died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday, 
March 4, in Marion General Hospital after a long illness.  He was born in Knox county, 
KY and had lived in Fairmount for the past 39 years. A retired coal miner, he attended 
the First Separate Baptist church, Fairmount.  He is survived by his wife, Ethel; a 
daughter, Mrs. James (Donna) Smith, Fairmount; a sister, Sallie Hensley, Dayhoit, KY; 
two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Services will be held at 10 a.m. 
Wednesday in the Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Tomlin officiating. Burial will 
be in the Gardens of Memory cemetery, Huntington county.

Charles E. Gilmore
Charles E. Gilmore, 81, Anderson, died Feb.26 at Community Hospital after a brief 
illness.  He was born in Anderson and was a lifelong resident of Madison county. He 
retired in 1968 from Guide after 38 years as a toolmaker.  He was a member of Otterbein 
Methodist church, United Auto Workers Local 663, the Killbuck Retirees, and the Senior 
Citizen's Community Center.  His wife, Mary, died in 1989.  Survivors include, a son, 
Charles H. Gilmore, Anderson; two daughters, Ruth Lynn Taha of Normal, IL, and Laura 
May Shadoin of Muncie; three brothers, James F. Gilmore of Anderson, Myron Gilmore of 
Noblesville and Winston Gilmore of Missouri. Four sisters, Mary Fromholtz, Summitville; 
Martha Mottweiler, Betty Orebaugh and Phyllis James, all of Anderson; 12 grandchildren, 
two great grandchildren and several cousins and nieces and nephews. Services were held 
last Thursday at Otterbein Methodist church with Dr. Frank Cramer officiating.  Burial 
was in Anderson Memorial Park cemetery.
