I do know that he lived in Elkhart County, Indiana from about 1839 to 1872. His wife's name was either Ellen or Cora Belle, and he had a son John DeGarmo Jr. and a daughter by the name of Catherine DeGarmo. John's name appears several times in the index of surnames on file in the Elkhart County Historical Society. There is a reference to a Caroline and James DeGarmo in some of the Elkhart County Historical Society files, and I don't know who these two are. I'm seeking information about this family, but more importantly looking for descendants. John DeGarmo was born about 1793 and died around 1872. Any assistance on DeGarmo family members would be appreciated. Bill DeGarmo ______________________________X-Message: #2 Date: Mon, 25 Oct 1999 17:35:31 -0400 From: "V. My mother was born Elizabeth Jane Carpenter on 10/15/21, she was put in an orphanage and adopted out. It is my understanding that her parents were living at the time she was put up for adoption. I am looking for any information on the Carpenter or Harwood families. Vickey Watson
