I hope I have not written to you before! I am searching for birth records for my grandfather, Edwin Lyndon MAY. His parents, Edwin Johnson May and Ada Scofield May show up in the 1870 census in Whitestown (he's listed as Edward J.) with daughter Jennie, born Feb 1870. She evidently died at some point before 1900. My grandfather's sister, Maude, was born in Whitestown, about 1871, and my grandfather, about 1875, we believe. I haven't been able to find any of their births on IN records. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks so much, Sharon Boltz, San Diego.

Hello! I have a photo of an ancestress that I cannot place in the family tree. Does anyone have a connection to a Polyann Parks/Parke that was in Thornton, Boone co., IN around the 1850's to 1860's? In this picture I have she looks to be in her 20's or early 30's. I found the photo in an album of other Parks family members who lived in Montgomery county, IN and who then moved to Tama county, IA. I have found no trace of her in connection to any of my other Parke/Parks people but the photo is titled "Great Aunt Polyann Parks". The back of the picture says it was taken in at "Clark's Photograph and Dental Rooms" in Thornton, IN. Help! --

I am looking for someone who know Boone County well, and might be able to show me where Rees's Mill used to be. Old maps have it north of Mechanicsburg along the county line on a Creek (Sugar?). I am hoping to find out the names of my great grandfather's parents/siblings and also the name of the family that my great grandmother stayed with during the time that my great grandfather was away for 3 years serving in the Civil War. Her mother had died when she was a toddler and her father when she was 11 years old, so it's thought that she may have come to IN from KY to live with family after her father's death. However, I don't know who that family might have been. So hopefully if I can find out who she was staying with while he was gone to war, I might be able to unravel some more of this mystery. Below are the particulars: At the age of 14, Mary Jane CHASTAIN, b. 1848 in Henry Co., KY, was married to William Perry HOBSON, b. 1841 in Marion Co., IN, at Burgetts Corner, Clinton Co, IN by John W. Bacon, Justice of the Peace, on 12 Aug 1862. He reenlisted as a Corporal in the Union Army 2 days later (Co. H of 86th Reg't Ind. Vols. commanded by Cpt. Rufus D. Pettit. He would later be transferred to Co. F, 12th Vet. Res. Corp and be discharged in Washington, D.C. on 26 June 1865.) During a hospital stay in April 1865, his records show his wife's post office address as being Zionsville, Boone Co., IN. After the war, on one of his Pension Application forms, they are shown as living on a farm in Soircleville, Clinton Co., IN. in Sept. 1878. They moved to Pratt, Pratt Co., KS in 1882 or 1884. Hi, I'm trying to search for my Elizabeth Scranton b. 1839/40 in IN from her 1880 Obit in SF, CA. I have not had very good luck so far finding her because of so many different States listed for birth place, can't get death record because of SF Quake/Fire 1906 which also took along most of her childrenšs records. From what I have I'm searching IN right now. I have not found an Elizabeth Scranton b. 1839/40 yet in IN, but I did find an Elizabeth b. 1836 to Almond and Rachel Scranton who were married in Dearborn Co. 1832. (they have another daughter Melyssa Scranton also) I would like to check this out just in case. I know this man worked as a Tailor in Rising Sun, this was listed in a book. My Elizabeth Scranton goes on to marry John L. McLaughlin b. 1832-37 in Ireland came over as a baby. (Don't know parents) John & Elizabeth marry around 1855-60. They have there first girl in MO 1860/61- Mary Matilda and then Emma 1863. They then all go to SF, CA by 1868 where they live until they die. Elizabeth does have several more children and dies, two months after giving birth April 1880. I can't find her buried yet in SF. I am looking for any info on the SCRANTON Families somebody must know these families. Any info is helpful!! Please E-mail to Mankcat.aol for now Thanks PS- I would like any proof that this Elizabeth is either her or not her, marriage or if this girl is buried with her parents where?

I am trying to find some information on my husbands great-grandfather who moved to Indiana from Bowling Green, Kentucky during the time around the cival war. They owned a merchantile store in Bowling Green, and were apparently well off financially. They were burned out by the Morgan Raiders, who were apparently cousins. They left there, and went to Indiana, where at least one of their ten children was born. The fathers name was William J. Morgan married to an Elizabeth??? They had 10 children, 5 boys, 5 girls. We know at least James M. Morgan was born in Indiana. I am sorry but I do not know where. He was born in 1870. His father's name was William J. Morgan. Some of the other children that we know the names of are; Ben John Anna and a twin sister who we do not know name of Dan James Jane Mary It is thought that James was the youngest of the 10 children. It is also thought that there is Indian blood in them. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
