Moore Cemetery (Partial)

Moore cemetery is located on SR 47 at 900 East in Marion Township, Boone County, Indiana. It is approximately 1.5 miles east of US Hwy. 421.

The cemetery was inventoried by Jane A. Heine and her daughter on August 8, 1998. The inventory was done by rows starting on the east end of the cemetery heading toward the west:

"This cemetery is still active, therefore out of respect I did not list recent burials or stones of those who may still be living. When I inventoried the cemetery it had recently been mowed and was in very good condition" - - Jane A. Heine

" - - The Norris and Moore family married. (Peter and Rachel Norris Moore) both are buried in the Moore cemetery which is also named for them. I understand it was cut out from their farm and donated as cemetery or began as family cemetery for Rachel and young son Peter. Both died in 1841. Most of these people are related although I do not recognize some of the later names. They may belong to the church that was across the street when I visited this place a few years ago. Thanks for the work you and others are doing for Boone County as I live in Texas and of course can not help there. My GGgrandparents are Peter and Rachel Moore (their son William Wheatley) moved to Texas in 1900. Rachel's father is Joseph Norris which is a Rev war soldier and has a marker, I believe in Boone or Clinton, I forget. Anyone needing info on the Moore-Norris, please tell them to contact me. I will help where I can." - - Carolyn
