Zion Genealogical Society Writing Workshops
ABOUT OUR WORKSHOP Just like tracing your family, you start with yourself. Begin writing moments in your life that relates to the overall human condition so that everyone can understand and learn from that personal experiene. Each session is assigned a topic that members of the workshop are to write on and share with the group. These workshop sessions are not only a learning experience; they are great fun! As you hear fellow members tell their story, it may spark another event memory for you to cover in your own personal story. Don’t get caught later saying “Should’a, Would’a, Could’a”…. Come join us in the fun and preserving of our life stories. All of us at Writing Group, hope that more of you will join us on this writing journey through our lives. Remember at any writing date, you are not OBLIGATED to write on the suggested topic, you may write on any topic of interest of your own. |
PRESERVING YOUR LIFE STORY
One of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself and your loved ones are the memories and experiences that shaped your life. Consider what your life experiences have taught you. Reflect on what you believe in and what matters the most.
Writing your story will also assist you when it comes time to write your family history. You will have gained an understanding of a writing style which makes your family history more interesting and compelling to read.
Remember, you’ve got a special story to tell, so rediscover who you are, and pass on those valuable life lessons when you tell your story!
