Library Collection --

The TMG Collection at the Tinley Park Public Library

Access to the TMG Collection is now available for your convenience 72 hours per week, during the open hours of the Tinley Park Public Library.  (Tinley Park Public Library is located at 7851 Timber Drive in Tinley Park, Illinois.) Our genealogical research materials are stored in the northwest corner of the library's first floor, and the collection include books, microfilm, periodicals, newsletters, yearbooks, and telephone books. These items are for reference only; they must be used at the library, and cannot be checked out. Currently, we own nearly 600 items, interfiled with genealogical materials owned by the Tinley Park Public Library.

Library hours are: Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.,  and Sunday (during the school year only)  1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

You can now search all titles in the TMG collection from the convenience of your home. Just visit SWAN, the Metropolitan Library System online catalog (the web address is http://swan.mls.lib.il.us/ ). Once you have arrived at this web page, simply type the phrase “tinley morainein the box to the right of "Keyword," then click on the button marked "Search." The first page of results will appear, arranged from newest copyright date to oldest. By clicking on the series of page numbers near the top and bottom of this page, you can view all items in the collection.

Note that it is also possible to view an alphabetical list of titles. To do this, begin a new search and click on the "Advanced Search" button. Type the phrase "tinley moraine" in the box to the right of the words "Any field," then click in the box labeled "sorted by date." From the drop-down menu, select "sorted by title." Finally, click on the button labeled "Submit." The first page of results will appear, showing the titles arranged alphabetically.

Note that the results page also lists other libraries that may have the same title in circulation.

icrofilm Readers are available to view TMG owned microfilm and to make photo copies of images near the Adult Services (Reference) Desk on the first floor of the Tinley Park Public Library.
