W. H. HOOTS

Funeral services were held at the Bloomfield Baptist church Sunday afternoon, May 2, 1943, for W. H. Hoots, 90, lifelong residence of Scott County.

Interment was in the Bloomfield cemetery, the pall bearers being Cordell Stice, Leonard Havens, Paul James, Rollie and Eddie Hoots.

W. H. (Lafe) Hoots, retired Scott County farmer and lifelong resident of this community, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 1943, at the home of his son, Leonard Hoots, near Jacksonville. He had been seriously ill for several weeks.

He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Nellie Anders of Jacksonville, Mrs. James Havens of Winchester, James Hoots of Winchester, Mrs. O. C. Stice of Winchester, Leonard Hoots of Jacksonville and Wiley Hoots of Winchester.

Note: (This obit has some inaccuracies. Mr. Hoots� name was H. W. Hoots not W. H. Hoots and he went by the name of �Lace� not �Lafe�. His daughter Kate Stice was married to Arthur L. Stice not O. C. Stice.)

Mrs. H. W. Hoots

Ella Jackson Hoots, daughter of Wiley and Rosanna Jackson, was born Feb. 24, 1856, and passed away at her home in Winchester, August 6, 1942 after an extended illness.

On August 2, 1876, she was united in marriage to H. W. Hoots. To this union thirteen children were born, seven having preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Wiley and James of Winchester; Leonard of Jacksonville; Mrs. Bertha Havens, Roodhouse; Mrs. Kate Stice, Winchester and Nellie Anders of Jacksonville; forty-nine grandchildren; seventy-five great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Also five sisters, Mrs. Ida Mitchell and Mrs. Mary E. Renner of Alsey, Mrs. Ollie Hardy, Mrs. Rebecca Watkins and Mrs. Flora Hoots, all of Winchester, and many other relatives and friends. About twenty-five years ago she united with the Bloomfield Baptist church and remained a faithful member until her death. She was a devoted wife and was loved by all who knew her.

A precious one from us has gone
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.

Funeral services were conducted from the Bloomfield Baptist church, Sunday afternoon, Aug. 9, 1942, Rev. Leo Crossman and Rev. Lloyd K. Spencer officiating.

The flowers were cared for by Freta Gregory, Lena Todd, Hazel Hoots, Edna Peterson, Rosy, Kathleen and Elsie Hoots.

Interment was in the Bloomfield cemetery, the pall bearers being Floyd Stice, Clyde, Ray, Dan and Herbert Hoots and Clarence Anders.
