MAGELITZ, FRED W.

Jacksonville Daily Journal June 28, 1962

Meredosia- Fred W. Magelitz, 72, a retired farmer and resident of Scott county, passed away suddenly at his home southeast of Bluffs.

Born in Scott county, March 19, 1890, he was married to Emma Enke, who survives along with, Alvin of Jacksonville, Harry of Chapin and Mrs. Flora Albers of Bluffs.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lutheran church in Neelyville with Reverend James Hawley officiating. Burial will be in the New Neeleyville cemetery.

Friends may call at the Schaefer Funeral Home in Meredosia at any time after noon Friday. The body will be taken to the church one hour before services.

MAGELITZ, HENRY

Jacksonville Daily Journal Jan 2, 1943

Bluffs, Jan. 1.-The body of Henry Magelitz, Wabash fireman who died suddenly in Baylis Friday morning was brought to Bluffs Friday afternoon and taken to Bates' Funeral Home. Mr. Magelitz was about 47 years old and was born and reared in this community, where he had lived his entire life.

He had been working out of Baylis where he spent most of his time. He was a veteran of World War I and a consistent member of the Neeleyville Lutheran church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ethel Magelitz, one daughter, Mrs. James Hendricks, and two sons, Vernon of Peoria, and Henry H. of Washington D.C. Also surviving are his parents Mr. and Mrs. Hermon Magelitz, and three brothers in service, Clarence, Albert and George; one brother Martin at home; and one brother in the Neeleyville neighborhood and three sisters, Misses Annie and Amanda of Jacksonville, and Mrs. Minnie Compton of Bluffs.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending word form the sons.


MAGELITZ, HARRY FREDERICK

Harry Frederick Magelitz, 78, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at Passavant Area Hospital.

He was born July 15, 1918, in Bluffs, the son of Fred and Emma Enke Magelitz. He married Maxine Rausch on June 1, 1944, in New Berlin, and she survives.

He is also survived by three sons, Danny (wife Carleen) of Meredosia, David (wife Judy) of Jacksonville, Robert (wife Ellen) of Manchester; one brother, Alvin (wife Wilma) of Waverly; one sister, Flora Albers of Bluffs; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Magelitz worked in the Sanitation Department at Oscar Mayer for 16 years, retiring in 1985. He also engaged in farming for many years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville. He was a cook in the Army serving in World War II.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Neeleyville. The remains will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service. Friends may call after noon Saturday at the Cody and Son Memorial Home in Jacksonville with family meeting friends from 6-8:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville or the Visiting Nurses Association.


MAGELITZ, HERMAN

Jacksonville Daily Journal Jan. 17, 1964

Bluffs- Herman Magelitz, retired farmer of the Bluffs community, died at 7:30 a.m. Friday at his home southeast of Bluffs.

He was born in Hanover, Germany, April 6, 1867, the son of Henry and Maria Magelitz. He came to this county when he was 14 years old and has lived in the Bluffs community since. He married Mary Engelbrecht. She preceded him in death a number of years ago.

Surviving are the following children, Mrs. U. L. (Minnie) Compton; Albert, George, Martin, and Miss Amanda Magelitz, all of Bluffs; William Magelitz of Chapin and Mrs. Edwin (Anna) Lovekamp of Arenzville. There are 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A sister and brother survive, Mrs. Mary Pahlman of Bluffs and John Magelitz of Downer's Grove.

Two sons, a daughter, three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.

The deceased was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, East of Bluffs.

The body was taken to the Schaefer Funeral Home in Meredosia where friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday. A prayer service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Lutheran Church. The Reverend James Hawley will officiate. Interment will be in New Trinity cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before services.
