SEARS, HARRY L.

Unknown newspaper - January 1910

HARRY L. SEARS was born Dec. 17, 1865 and died January 10, 1910, aged 44 years and 23 days.

Deceased was a son of the late Washington Sears, and was born at the place in which he died, having resided there during his entire life.

He was united in marriage to Miss Ellen Pieper, December 24, 1889, and to this union were born four children: namely, Lillie, Helen, Harvey W., and Ogden J., who with their mother and grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Sears and one brother, Charles, of Jerseyville, and one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Moore, of Bluffs, are left to mourn his death.

Harry was well known throughout this section of Scott county and well liked by all. For the past two or three years he has been more or less of an invalid, suffering from liver complaint, which with a complication of diseases caused his death.

During the revival at Oxville, which was conducted by T. B. Smith, some fourteen years ago, he was converted and joined the M. E. church there, and has remained a member ever since.

He was a good neighbor and a kind husband and father and was well liked by all who knew him, and his demise is regretted by all.

Funeral services occurred from the family residence Thursday at 10 o'clock a.m., Rev. Thos. Symonds officiating, under the direction of Scott Lodge No. 702, I.O.O.F., of Bluffs, of which he has long been a member, and interment occurred at the family burial ground on the old homestead.
