Carl F. W. Englebrecht was born near Neelyville, Ill., Feb 8, 1894, and grew to manhood in that neighborhood.
He was called to the colors Aug __ 19__, and was sent to Camp Taylor Ky., and remained there until called by death, Monday evening, Oct. 7, 1918, of influenza and pneumonia.
One of the sad features of his death was the fact that his family were enroute to their new home in Texas via auto, and knew nothing of his illness until several days after his death, when they were reached by a telegram and returned immediately.
The surviving relatives are: his father, Herman Englebrecht, his stepmother, one brother, Filbert, four sisters, Rose, Minnie, Manda and Emma, his grandfathers Wm. Englebrecht and Enoch Tholen.
Funeral services were conducted from the Neelyville Lutheran church on Monday at 1:30 o'clock p.m., Rev. Detering officiating and interment in the Neelyville cemetery.
The pall bearers were: Albert Aring, Louis Schone, Harold Nergenah, Alfred Rahe, Clarence Hamilton and Clarence Ruh.
The flower girls: Amanda Middendorf, Amelia Middendorf, Mamie Ruh and Irene Hamilton.
