MARY ELLEN COLLEPS

Mary Ellen Colleps, daughter of Wm. and Isabel Colleps was born July 15, 1861 near Naples, Ill. She was married to Wm. Welch April 17, 1883 in Naples, Ill. To this union two sons were born, Frank Welch of Florence, Ill., and Earl Welch of Naples.

Mr. Welch died August 8, 1895. Mrs. Welch was united in marriage with Wm. Mappin April 3, 1901.

Two children were born of this union; Mrs. Henry Keister of Dixon, Ill., and Wm. Mappin of Naples. Mr. Mappin passed away April 21, 1921.

Mrs. Mappin passed away at the home of her daughter at Dixon, Ill., May 17, 1927. She had been in poor health for the past six years and went to the home of her daughter last November, who assisted by her husband, tenderly cared for their mother until she passed away. She is survived by the three sons and one daughter mentioned. Also four grandchildren, one grandson infant of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mappin passed to the beyond last year. There are also the following sisters and brothers left to mourn the loss of this sister, namely, D. W. Colleps, Kirbyville, Texas, Mrs. Douglas Morris, Lake Dallas, Texas, J. T. Colleps of Chickasha, Okla., Chas. Colleps and Mrs. C. C. Carter of Jacksonville, Ill., three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. George, Jerry and Fred, Colleps and Mrs. Chas. Turner and Fannie Colleps. Fred was drowned in the river below Naples about 45 years ago. Aunt Mollie as she was always called by most people was always ready to lend a helping hand in sickness or any way she could. Mrs. Mappin joined the Christian Church at Naples, when about 16 years of age.

Funeral services were held from the Naples M.E. church at Naples, Saturday, May 21, at 2 p.m. in charge of Rev. Lewis B. Van Winkle.

Those from a distance atending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Keister of Dixon, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Welch and three children of Florence, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Colleps, son Elmer, Miss Minnie Welchman, C. C. Carter of Jacksonville, Curtis C. Carter, Mrs. Ella Lowe, Mrs. Jennie Meyers, Mrs. Josie Doolin, Mary Meyers, Mrs. Mary Vortman, all of Bluffs, Jesse Mappin, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Mappin, Decatur, Mrs. Tina Summers, Mrs. Wm. Powell, Mr. Rose, Springfield, Ill., Mrs. Wendell Brackett, Mrs. Maggie Berry, Miss Virgie Buchanan, Exter, Mrs. C. E. Baumgardner of Pekin, Ill., Mrs. Stanley Baumgardner of Ashland, Ill.
