Joseph Franklin Schofield, 91, of Winchester, died Saturday morning, April 23, 2005 at the Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester.
He was born Jan. 14, 1914 in Winchester, the son of William and Bessie Lawson Schofield. He married Opal Mayme Bettis, March 18, 1933, in Murrayville and she survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Virginia Opal (husband, Art) Neff of Springhill, Tenn., and Mary Ann (husband, Robert) Turner of Franklin; three sons, Russell (wife, LaDonna) of Winchester, John of Roodhouse and Charles (wife, Julie) of Orlando, Fla.; 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Earl (wife, Maxine) Schofield of Roodhouse and Harvey Schofield of Murrayville. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Everett, Irvin, Lloyd and Henry; and one sister, Bessie Jane Turner.
Mr. Schofield was a retired farmer and raised purebred Duroc hogs. He served as an assistant deputy assessor of Scott County. He was a member of the Winchester United Methodist Church, Scott County Farm Bureau where he at one time served as the director and was president of the Harts Community Club.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, at Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Winchester with burial at Manchester Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Murrayville-Woodson EMS or the Winchester Methodist Church. Condolences may be left at www.mackeydaws.com.

Funeral services for Joseph Franklin Schofield were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Winchester with the Rev. Joel Catlin officiating. Helen Cumby was organist and accompanied Travis Garner as he sang "The Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers were Gene Schofield, Frank Schofield, David Schofield, Alan Neff, Joseph Neff, Chris Schofield, Lee Schofield and Jeffrey Schofield. Burial was in Manchester Cemetery where Jeremy Schofield played "Amazing Grace" on the trumpet.
