Charles E. McKean, 80, of Jacksonville, and formerly of the rural Roodhouse and Murrayville areas, died Monday afternoon, May 9, 2005 at St. Frances Medical Center in Peoria. He was born December 6, 1924, in Murrayville, the son of Howard E. and Mayme Clarkson McKean. He married Frances Eloise Hays on July 23, 1949, in Lynnville. She preceded him in death June 4, 2004. He is survived by a son, William C. (wife, Joyce) McKean of Jacksonville; a daughter, Janice (husband, Richard) Schenebricker of Colona; two granddaughters, Hope and Faith Schenebricker; three brothers, James and Howard, both of Woodson, and Jesse of White Hall; and one sister, Helen (husband, Russell) Hicks of Woodson. One grandchild, three brothers, Paul, Edward and John, and three sisters, Janet McKean, Louise Strauss and Margaret Manley, preceded him in death. Mr. McKean served in the Army during WWII, worked at Anderson Clayton Foods in the maintenance department for 38 years, and enjoyed hunting. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2005, at Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Murrayville with burial in Manchester Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association. Condolences may be left at mackeydaws.com.
