MARGARET LAWSON

Margaret J. Lawson, 70, 204 Hollow Ave., Jerseyville died at 10:15 am Oct. 7 at St. Mary's Health Center, Clayton, MO.

She was born Nov. 26, 1911, in Roodhouse, the daughter of the late Herman E. and Fanny Whitaker Sipes.

Survivors include her husband, Andrew Lawson, Jerseyville; three daughters, Lucille Newingham, Jeanette Boston and Judy Reese, all of Jerseyville; two brothers, Elmer Sipes of Patterson and George Sipes of Springfield; one sister, Martha Cooper of White Hall, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Funeral services were held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville on Oct. 10, Reverend Ron Woodrum officiating. Burial was in Manchester. The American Cancer Society has been designated as a memorial.

Andrew J. Lawson

Jerseyville - Andrew lawson, 76, died at 12:05 pm Saturday, June 18, 1988, at his residence.

Lawson was an adjuster at Olin Corp. in East Alton before his retirement in 1975. He was born in Scott County, son of the late Harry and Alice (Sutor)* Lawson.

On Nov. 17, 1934, he married the former Margaret J. Sipes in Scott County. She died Oct. 7, 1982.

Surviving are three daughters, Lucille Newingham, Jeanette Boston and Judy Reese, all of Jerseyville; eight granchildre; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, James Lawson of Jacksonville; and three sisters, Mary Preston of Jacksonville, Sadie Evans of Bathalto and Stella Daniel of White Hall.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and George Lawson; and a sister, Melissa Lawson.

Visitaiton will be 5-9 pm. today with services at 1:30 pm Monday at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Burial will be in the Manchester (Ill.) Cemetery.

Roodhouse - Betty L. Lawson, 73, of Manchester, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 22, 1999, at her residence. She was born April 28, 1925,in Roodhouse, the daughter of Henry and Mildred Roe Ballard. She married Robert F. Lawson on Aug. 6, 1948, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1997.

She is survived by two sons, Lynn L. (wife, Sandra Kay) of Glasgow, Billy Joe (wife, Brenda) of Manchester; three grandchildren; one step grandson; two great-granddaughters; and three step great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lawson was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church,Jacksonville D.A.R. and Manchester Home Extension.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday at the Mackey-Daws Funeral Home in Roodhouse with burial at Manchester Cemetery in Manchester. Friends may call after 2 PM Sunday with the family meeting friends from 6-8 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Manchester United Methodist church, Murrayville EMS or D.A.R.

Roodhouse - Robert Francis Lawson, 75, of Manchester, died early Sunday, Oct26, 1997, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born July 24, 1922, in Manchester, the son of Vernon and Opal Edwards Lawson. He married Betty L. Ballard Aug. 6, 1948, in Jacksonville. She survives in Manchester.

He is also survived by two sons, Lynn (wife, Sandra Kay) of Glasgow and Billy Joe (wife, Brenda) of Manchester; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold E. of Jacksonville; and one half-brother, Ross of Petersburg. He was preceded in death by one brother, Russell; two half-brothers, Raymond and Richard; and three sisters, Dorothy Horrighs, Edna McKinney and Margaret Ridings.

Mr. Lawson was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church near Manchester, a World War II Army veteran, a 45year member of the Operating Engineers Local No 965, a 42-year member ofthe White Hall Masonic Lodge and a member of the Manchester American Legion Post No 0751.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm Wednesday at the Mackey-DawsFuneral Home in Roodhouse with burial at Manchester Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 pm Tuesday at the funeral home, where family will meetfriends 6-8 pm and Masonic services will be held 8 pm. Memorials are suggested to the Murrayville Ambulance Squad or the donor's choice.

Ernest A. 'Gus' Lawson

Ernest A. "Gus" Lawson, 85, who resided at the North American HealthCare Center in White Hall, died there Friday afternnoon, May 21, 1993.

He was born Feb. 2, 1908, in Roodhouse, the son of August and Nellie Preston Lawson. He married C. Eva Herron of Murrayville Jan. 27, 1930 inVenice. She survives in Murrayville.

He is also survived by three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Jane) McMillenof Manchester, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Martin of Woodson and Mrs. Paul (Lila) Myers of St. George, Utah; one brother, Adrain Lawson of North Carolina; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Fiest; one half brother, Bernard; and two half sisters, Velma and Juanita Furgerson.

Mr. Lawson worked by the Woodson Farmers Elevator for 32 years. He became a preacher of the General Baptist church at age 31. He was also an avid fox hunter and raised Montadale sheep.

Funeral services were held at 2pm Monday, May 24, at the Assembly of God Church in Roodhouse. The Rev. Darin Elder officiated.

Pianist was Gladys Huff. Soloist was Cathy Bridges, who sang "On theWings of a Dove," "I'll Meet You in the Morning" and "Mansion on the Hilltop."

Pallbearers were Jerry Piper, Paul Sheehan, Garrett Shaw, Vance Martin, Steve Kleffner and Bill Vedder, Honoray Pallbearers were Charles Bruce, Wilber Lawson, Gerald Lorton, Allie Bryant, Bob White and Dick Holt.

Burial was at the Manchester Cemetery. Mackey-Daws Funeral Home in Roodhouse was in charge of arrangements.

Christina "Eva" Lawson, 86, of Manchester, died Thursday afternoon,Nov. 11, 1999, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born Oct. 8, 1913, in Roodhouse, the daughter of Elmer and Viva Cooley Herron. She married Ernest "Gussie" Lawson of Jan. 27, 1930,in St. Louis, Mo., and he preceded her in death in 1993.

She is survived by three daughters, Jane (husband, Harold) McMillen of Manchester, Lila Louise (husband, Paul) Myers of Bunker Hill, and Bonnita M. (husband, Bob) Martin of Woodson; 13 grandchildren; 19great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Herron of Murrayville; and one sister, Ruby Bucholtz of Monett, Mo. She was preceded in death by three siblings.

Mrs. Lawson was a homemaker all of her life. She loved to read and an avid interest in Montadale sheep raising and showing. She was amember of the Assembly of God Church in Roodhouse and had been aninsurance representative for AFLAC.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday at the Manchester Baptist Church with burial at Manchester Cemetery. The remains will betaken to the church one hour prior to the services. Friends may call after 2 pm Saturday at the Mackey-Daws Funeral Home in Roodhouse with the family meeting friends from 6-8 pm.


LAWSON, RICHARD W.

Richard W. Lawson

Murrayville - Richard W. Lawson, 42, of rural Murrayville died Monday night, Oct. 17, 1994, at Passavant Area Hospital.

He was born Feb 7, 1952, in Murrayville, the son of Vernon Lawson & Ella White Lawson Powell.

He is survived by his mother of White Hall; one brother, Ross Lawson of Pertersburg; two half-brothers, Robert Lawson of Manchester and Harold Lawson of Jacksonville; and one half-sister, Edna McKinnon of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Lawson; on half-brother, Russell Lawson; and two half-sisters, Margaret Ridings and Dorothy Horreigh.

Mr. Lawson owned Woods and Things, where he did custom craft work and wood refinishing.

Funeral services will be at 10 am Friday at Mackey-Daws Funeral Home in Murrayville, with burial at Manchester Cemetery in anchester. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday.

John W. Lawson, age 89 years, Civil War veteran, died Monday, January 26, 1931 at home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Welch of Roodhouse. Besides Mrs. {Mary Ellen} Welch, survived by three other daughters: Mrs. John {Nellie} Hardy of Manchester; Mrs. Jesse {Sarah} Morrison of Concord and Mrs. Rose Maloney of St. Louis, MO and three sons, William, Murrayville; Elmer of Concord and Roy Lawson of Harrisburg, IL.

Funeral at Baptist church in Manchester, IL Wednesday, January 28,1931. Burial in Manchester Cemetery.
