HALE, CHARLES R.

Charles R. Hale died in Decatur, June 23, 1935. Services were held at 1536 N. Union Street, Decatur, June 26, conducted by Rev. Iver Johnson and at the Bluffs Methodist Protestant Church, Wednesday afternoon, June 26, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Frederic Baylis.

Mrs. Paul Vannier, accompanied by Mrs. Donald Merris, very impressively sang two solos by request, "Sometime We'll Understand," and "Asleep in Jesus."

Interment was made in the Green cemetery.

The many beautiful flowers were cared for by Mrs. E. L. Kendall, Mrs. O. A. Woodson, and Mrs. J. A. Knoeppel.

The pallbearers were: Edward Merris, E. L. Kendall, Paul Green, Royal Oakes, Albert Knoeppel and Victor Knoeppel.

Charles Hale was long a well beloved resident of Bluffs. First as assistant in the post office, then storekeeper, and for many years in the bank.

He was faithful and loyal in all walks of life; a member of the Methodist Protestant church during his residence here, sang in the choir, a Sunday School worker, church treasurer, and he was chosen to represent the church as delegate to Conference.

He leaves to mourn his death his beloved wife, son Vernon, wife and grandson, and a number of relatives with a host of loving friends. He was a good man.
