Alice Biddle, 90,
of Bluffs dies
BLUFFS - Alice M. Bartholomew Biddle, 90, of Bluffs died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at Passavant Hospital.
She was born in Clayton Oct. 25, 1896, a daughter of Mahlon and Jennie Olithant Chapman. She married Harvey Bartholomew and he died July 4, 1963. She married Emmett Biddle who died April 29, 1972.
Surviving are one son, Richard Bartholomew of Arenzville; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Harris of Decatur; one brother, Burson Chapman of Decatur; one stepson, Milburn Biddle of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Minnie Goebel, and two brothers, John and Clyde Chapman.
She was a member of the Bluffs United Methodist Church and the Retired Teachers Association. She taught for 31 years in Meredosia, Chapin and Naples schools.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bluffs United Methodist Church, with burial in Green Cemetery in Bluffs. Visitation will be in her residence in Bluffs from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and at the church from 1 p.m. Sunday until time of services.
Memorials are suggested to the Meredosia Rescue Squad or Bluffs United Methodist Church. Skinner Funeral Home in Griggsville is in charge of arrangements.
