Bluffs, Jan. 9- Mrs. Fredericka Vollroth Ranft, 80, died Thursday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Chambers, in Bluffs after a brief illness. A heart attack Tuesday caused her death.

Mrs. Ranft was born August 4, 1861 in Saxony, Germany, but had been a resident of the Bluffs community for fifty-two years. She was married on May 27, 1883 to Edward Ranft, who died May 4, 1930.

She is survived by five children: Mrs. Harry Chambers of Bluffs, Mrs. Freda Benedict of Chicago, Mrs. Emma Comerford of Griggsville, Walter Ranft of Griggsville, and E.H. Ranft of Bluffs: 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and two sisters in this country, Mrs. Bertha Hageman of LaFeria, Texas, and Mrs. Anna Pollman of Culbertson, Nebraska. Mrs. Ranft also had several sisters and brothers in Germany, from whom no word has been received for some time. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Ida Berghaus of Bluffs, and one daughter, Mrs. Anna McMurray of Bluffs.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Ranft was active in the work of St. John's Lutheran church in Bluffs, of which she and her husband were charter members. The Rev. S.W. Jensen pastor of the church, will conduct services at the church in her memory Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock preceded by brief services at the house. He will be assisted by the Rev. Leland Ogen, of St. Louis, former paster of the church. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, north of Bluffs.
