GILLIS, ELLEN OVERSTREET

Mrs. Ellen Gillis taken by Death: Funeral Friday

1872-6/9/1931

Word was received here yesterday of the death of Mrs. Ellen Gillis who passed in Rock Island Tuesday. Mrs. Gillis remains will be sent to Riggston today on the Burlington railway, and removed from there to the home of her husband, Abe Gillis, in Exeter.

Funeral services will be held in Exeter Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. D. C. Byrus in charge and burial will be in Exeter Cemetery. Besides her husband, Mrs. Gillis is survived by seven children: Clarence Osborne of near Jacksonville; Carl Gillis, Mrs. M. E. Garvis, Jesse, Leo, unreadable and Howard Gillis, all of Rock Island.

Note: (The bottom of the article has been crumbled away and it looks like it does not have a date on it at all. It looks like 1931-06-09 was penciled in on edge of clipping. - Ellen was daughter of Oscar Clark and Louisa Overstreet of Exeter, Illinois.
