Roy Berry, postmaster and prominent business man of Exeter, died Monday night at seven o'clock at Our Saviour's hospital in Jacksonville, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident at Ebaugh's corn Friday, right after noon.

Mrs. Carl Powell and Mrs. Farrell Clark and Mr. Berry, all of Exeter were on their way to Jacksonville when the truck in which they were riding collided with a car driven by Miss Muriel Kopp of Bluffs. Miss Kopp was returning to Bluffs from Winchester and was turning west on the gravel road at the Ebaugh corner when the front of her car collided with the rear of the Berry truck.

The truck skidded sideways in the loose gravel and turned over, throwing Mr. Berry out the left door which was held with a string, and the supposition is that the truck fell across his hip as it turned over and rolled.

Mr. Berry was rushed to Our Saviour's hospital in Jacksonville where it was found that his hip and pelvic bones were broken. Dr. Norris, the attending physician, stated that he was in a serious condition, but his injury was not thought to be critical until an operation Saturday showed that the bladder had been severed.

Relatives were called to his bedside Saturday morning but her had lapsed into unconsciousness and passed away Monday evening.

Mr. Berry was 47 years of age and a World War veteran.

Surviving is his wife, formerly Marie Thorn of Bluffs; two sons William and Robert; two daughters Margaret and Patricia; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Yeck of Quincy and Mrs. Ike Morris of Exeter and one brother George.

Other occupants of the truck were not injured except for bruises and the truck which according to reports turned over twice, was damaged but little. The windshield was not broken and the fenders and top were intact. After the broken wheel was replaced the truck was returned to Exeter.

The body was taken to the Stainforth Funeral Home in Winchester where it was prepared for burial and Tuesday evening was removed to the home of his brother George Berry in Exeter where funeral services were to be held yesterday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. Fr. M. J. O'Mullane officiating and interment in the Exeter cemetery.
