Asa Canterbury was the first of the family to arrive in Sangamon county, Illinois. He was born March 7, 1788 in Virginia. He was married to Peggy Hornback, who was born February 6, 1791. Both Asa and Margaret (Peggy) are buried in the Canterbury Cemetery in Fancy Creek Township, Sangamon County, Illinois. Asa died October 15, 1856 and Peggy died July 8, 1857. Asa and Peggy had 11 children:

Margaret b. 1829 Sangamon co., Ill.-married Stephen England, son of
David and Margaret (Higgins) England. David was the son of
Stephen England and Anna Harper
Abraham b. 1831 Sangamon Co., Ill.-died age 12 years

John Henry Canterbury and Esther Elizabeth Fisk Canterbury are both buried at Indian Point Cemetery, Menard County, Illinois. John Henry b. Apr. 14, 1860 and d. Mar. 20, 1946. Elizabeth b. June 10, 1860 d. May 15, 1932.
Sarah Ann was the daughter of Robert McReynolds and Susan (Mayer) McReynolds. John Moore Fisk was the son of Eli and Margaret (Moore) Fisk. Sarah was born July 22, 1824 and died August 13, 1904. John Moore Fisk was born September 17, 1822 and died September 5, 1918. He was blind in his later years. They are both buried in the Canterbury Cemetery in Fancy Creek Township, Sangamon County, Illinois. John Moore Fisk was blind when this picture was taken.
