STRODE CEMETERY
NW 1/4 of SE 1/4 Section 19, Twp. 17N, R5WFancy Creek Township
Sangamon County, Illinois
Directions: From Rte. 29, go west at the green marker (8N) for 1 and 1/2 miles to a "T" road. Go left on the "T" road for approximately 1/4 of a mile. The cemetery sits off the road on the left side, back in a cow pasture. There is a gate to the cow pasture and another fence around the cemetery itself.
Duane & Betty recently drove by Strode Cemetery on their way home from Springfield and noticed that Mr. Harry Strode had a sign on the gate requesting donations to be used for the upkeep of this cemetery. It's important for all of us "cemetery lovers" to help support individual efforts to maintain and preserve these wonderful old cemeteries.
For anyone who has ancestors in this cemetery, the Sangamon Co. Gen. Society has a book for sale which includes a reading, done by rows, for this cemetery. The book makes it easy to determine the proximity of one burial to another and includes additional information such as women's maiden names and, in some cases, a more complete birth or death date.
