Clayville Tavern

Directions: On Rte. 125, driving from Springfield, the Clayville Tavern is located about one mile before you reach Pleasant Plains. Jeannie lived very near the tavern while growing up and doesn't remember any trace of a cemetery in this area. No one she has checked with can remember a cemetery at this spot although there could certainly have been burials here since the Tavern was in use for many years as a place for travelers to stop during trips in the area.

At times during the past 50 years, the Tavern was used for annual festivals and old time demonstrations. Unfortunately it hasn't been used at all during recent years.
