BLACKBURN

CENTRAL ILLINOIS OBITUARIES

BLACKBURN, NETTIE RUBY PRATHER

Mrs. Lloyd Blackburn

Sorrow has filled the homes of the Sandridge community, since on Wednesday evening, Aug. 10, 1932, Mrs. Nettie Ruby Blackburn, wife of Lloyd Blackburn, living 4 1/2 miles southwest of Winchester quietly departed from this earthly home, after a few days' illness. Nettie was born at Ludlow, Ill., Dec. 25, 1914.

She was the youngest child of the family of Mr. and Mrs. "Bat" Prather.

Her father preceded her in death about 10 years ago.

Her mother, Mrs. James Greenwood, still survives to mourn her loss along with the others relatives and friends.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd Blackburn, Feb. 3, 1932. Thus her sad demise bring to a close this brief but happy union.

Nettie was a bright cheerful soul to her many friends who mourn her going away, but who will always hold in remembrance her youth and cheerfulness.

She leaves her husband, her mother, Mrs. James Greenwood, two brothers, Forrest Prather, of Jacksonville, Ill., and Alvin of Winchester, Ill., one sister, Mrs. Wanona Evans, of Winchester, two Uncles, Wm. Waid, of Jacksonville, and one at Max, North Dakota, also two aunts, Mrs. Albert Gauges of Glasgow and Mrs. Ben Neal of Toledo, Ill.

All that loving, tender hands could do, proved to no avail.

The silver cord has been loosed, the golden bowl has been broker; it is sad indeed when friends depart to breath kind words to the broken heart; but there'll be no sorrow, not suffering or pain since to live is Christ, but to die is gain.

Funeral services were held at the Sandridge Baptist church, Friday afternoon at two o'clock, Elder Homer Evans officiating, assisted by Elder Harry Evans.

The flowers were cared for by Lucille Yelm, Madeline Pile, Lucille, Pearl and Grace Evans and Grace Shepard.

Interment was in Winchester cemetery, the pall bearers being Bert -regory, Herbert Hoots, Richard Blackburn, Murl Evans, Oscar Evans, --- Crabtree. (A tear in the newspaper article left two names out.)
