Greenfield Weds

GREENFIELD, March 26, (Spc clai) -- Miss Elizabeth Knisley, youngest daughter of Mrs. Rose Knisley of this city, and Thomas Ballard of Carrollton were married at Hannibal, Mo., Saturday, the ceremony being performed in the First Methodist Church, the Rev. Arthur L. Pratt officiating.

Miss Virginia Knisley, sister of the bride, was her attendant. Glenn Costello of Carrollton also attended the couple.

Mrs. Ballard is a graduate of the local high school in the class of 1939. Since then she has been em- ployed at Beverly Farms near God- frey. The groom is a graduate of the Carrollton high school. The couple will reside on a farm near Carrollton.

Sergt. Knisley of Greenfield Weds

--GREENFIELD, March 17 (Special) Announcement has been received of the marriage of Miss Evelyn Marian Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson of Es- canaba, Mich., and Sergt. Edgar William Knisley, youngest son of Mrs. Rosa E. Knisley of this city, at the Methodist Church parson- age at Ephrata, Wash., March 3, the Rev. Herbert Vincent officiat- ing.

Sergeant and Mrs. Victor D. For- est of the Ephrata Air Base were the attendants. The bride was at- tired In a jacket dress of navy blue crepe trimmed with white, wore a white felt hat with blue veil and navy accessories. Her corsage was of American Beauty roses and baby breath, Mrs. Forest wore a submarine blue two-piece velvet dress with black accessories and her corsage was the same as the bride's.

The bride, a graduate of Escan- aba high school, is employed at the Michigan Bell Telephone Co. Sergt. Knisley is a graduate of the local high school and recently was transferred from Selfridge Field, Mich., to the Ephrata Air Base, Ephrata, Wash.

Elmer Knisley Weds GREENFIELD --Announcement is being made of the marriage of Elmer Knisley, son, of Mrs. Rosa Knisley, of this city and Miss Evelyn Brooks of Pittsburgh, Pa. The ceremony took place Thurs- day, Sept. 12, at St, Phillip's church at Pittsburgh. Mr. aiid Mrs. Knis- ley arrived here Sunday evening.

Knisley is a graduate of the local high school and last soring was discharged from the navy after three years of service. He is em- ployed by the state highway main- tenance division.

Jacob Knisley

GREENFIELD - Jacob Knis- ley, 52, died Tuesday at 9:15 a m. at his home in East St. Louis after a long illness. He was for- merly of Greenfield.

Mr. Knisley was born at Alex- ander, Nov. 8, 1909 and was mar- ried on Nov. 8. 1951 to the for- mer Miss Nell Shipley.

Survivors besides his wife are his mother, Mrs. Rosa Knisley of Greenfield; three brothers, Joe of Hillsboro, Elmer of Greenfield and Edgar of Decatur. and three sisters, Virginia Knisley of Green- field, Mrs. Wilbur Whitaker of Godfrey and Mrs. Thomas Bal- lard of Carrollton.

The body is at the Kassly Fu- neral Home in East St. Louis and will be brought to Greenfield Thursday noon. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church here at 3:30 Thursday with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Knisley was a member of the Alexander Methodist Church and had been employed by the Hartford Insurance Co,. in East St. Louis for the past 18 years.

Funeral services for Edgar Knisley will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Decatur. Burial will be a 3 p,m, Friday at Rose Lawn Memory Gar- den, Bethalto.

Knisley

GREENFIELD -- Mrs. Evelyn M. Knisley, 55, of 711 College St. Greenfield, died at 6:50 p.m. Sunday at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.

She married Elmer Knisley, Sept. 12, 1946. Besides her husband, surviving are three daughters, Misses Mary and Patricia Knisley and Mrs. Dorothy Riggs, all of Greenfield, four sons, Paul K., who is stationed with the Air Force in Alaska, George of Jacksonville, Ill., Mike of Greenfield and Regis, who is stationed with the Air Force in New Mexico; six grandchildren; three sisters, Miss Ellen Brooks, Mrs. Joan Perenyl and Mrs. Sara Zedell, all of Pittsburgh, Pa., and three brothers, John Brooks of Pittsburgh, David Brooks of Ellwood City, Pa., and Hugh Brooks of Louisville, Ky.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wed- nesday at Shields Memorial Hospital in Greenfield where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church with the Rev. Victor Kaltenback officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Wood Cemetery.

Knisley

GREENFIELD - Rosa Etta Knisley, 95, of Greenfield died at 6:28 p.m. Fri- day at Boyd Memorial Hospital where she had been a patlent for one week.

She was born Sept. 27, 1884, in Mt. Solon, Va., the daughter of James Madi- son and Susanna Kircoffe Andrew. She married Charles Harvey Knisley on Dec. 24, 1908 in Mt. Solon. He died April 20, 1921.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, three sisters and two broth- ers.

Surviving are three daughters, Vir- ginia Knisley of Greenfield, Rosalee Buis of Jerseyville and Elizabeth Bal- ard of Carrollton; two sons, Charles of Hillsboro and Elmer of Greenfleld.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m, Sunday at the Shields Memorial Home, Green- field, where services will be held on 2 p.m. Monday.

Burial will be in Woodwreath Ceme- tery near New Berlin. The National Ep- ilepsy Foundation has been named as a memorial.
