U. S. Gibbins Celebrates 90th Birthday

An all day picnic and fish fry, with all the trimmings was arranged by the four children of U. S. Gibbins, for his 90th birthday, last Sunday, October 4, at his eldest son's club house near Grafton.

Just before noon time cars began streaming in, all with well filled baskets of tasty food, cakes, pies, and salads of all kinds, and in no time the fist was frying, and a big dinner was being served.

The high-light of the day was when U. S. Gibbins three brothers came in, Wm. F., Arthur and Howard Gibbins. To the best of their remembrance it had been at least 30 years since all four brothers had been together.

The honored guest received many nice birthday gifts, and two large cakes. One cake was 14 inches wide and 26 inches long, all beautifully decorated and presented by Floma Gibbins.

All were entertained by the World Series on T. V. in the afternoon.

In the late evening all wished U. S. many more happy birthdays, and retired to their homes.

Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gibbins, Wood River; Wm. F. Gibbins, Carrollton; Howard Gibbins, St. Louis; Mr. and Mrs. Erva L. Gibbins and son Gary, Mr. and Mrs. Lamont Gilmore, Roodhouse; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gibbins, Peoria; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gibbins, Sharon and Patrick, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Foreman, Donna and Susan Ruyle, Floma D. Gibbins, Ann Williams, all of Springfield; Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Gibbins, Spencer and Stephen, Alton; Otis Gibbins, Grafton; U. S. Gibbins, Greenfield.
