Foster Livery
Springfield Journal Register, date of paper which originally published the following is unknown.
Undertaking was an outgrowth of the cabinet making industry, since cabinet makers
originally made the wooden "coffins." Later livermen, who kept rigs of all kinds, often combined
undertaking with their business since they had the teams and the hearse. Shown is James Foster's establishment
with equipages for both the living and the dead.
