"A. J." Werries, 85,
dies here Sunday
Adolph J. Werries, 85, of 2006 Mound Ave., died Sunday, Oct. 28, 1990, at Passavant Hospital.
He was born Sept. 20, 1905, in Morgan County, a son of Henry and Anna Werries. He married Evalena L. Ferreira on Jan. 12, 1928. She died Sept. 13, 1979.
He is survived by one son, Donald of Leland Lake, Jacksonville; two grandsons, Mark of Kodiak, Alaska, and Chuck of rural Jacksonville; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ernest of rural Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Inez Werries and Madrona Deaton.
Mr. Werries was formerly an active member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Brown's Business College. He farmed in the community for a number of years prior to his retirement.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gillham-Buchanan Funeral Home with burial at Ebenezer Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday with the family to meet with friends 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
