Georgia Souza, 97,
dies Sunday evening
Georgia M. Souza, 97, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 1989, at the Skyview Manor Nursing Home. She was a lifetime resident of Jacksonville.
She was born Nov. 17, 1892, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Charles and Mary Behen Souza.
She is survived by a sister, Ruth Davey of Jacksonville; two nieces, Betty Rolson of Jacksonville and Jane Wegehoft of Conroe, Texas; two nephews, Edward Souza of Jacksonville and Thomas Frank of Quincy; and several great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
She was a member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church, where she taught a Sunday school class for many years. She was a former member of the Amalgamated Clothiers. She worked as a seamstress for Capps factory for 50 years, retiring in 1957.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Cody & Son Memorial Home. There will be no formal visitation, but friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.
