Cecil Lee Samples
1916 - 1999

Cecil Lee Samples, 83, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 9, 1999, at Skyview Terrace Nursing Home in Jacksonville.

He was born July 23, 1916, in Jacksonville, the son of William T. and Ruth Amelia Coyle Samples. He married Edith Lucille Bridgeman on April 2, 1938, in Jacksonville, and she preceded him in death on July 11, 1999.

He is survived by one son, Gerald (wife, Betty) of Jacksonville; one daughter, Joyce Anne (husband, Glenn) Williams of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ray.

Mr. Samples worked 32 years as a driver and clerk for Railway Express, retiring in 1976 and also was in the bait business for over 45 years. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, I.O.O.F. No. 4 and the Moose Lodge. His two main hobbies were fishing and traping.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ebenezer Cemetery, north of Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to the Skyview Nursing Home Resident's Activity Fund or to I.O.O.F. NO. 4. The Cody and Son Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
