Jacksonville, Feb. 17 - Abraham C. Reid, prominent Morgan county farmer, died at his home two and one-half miles north of here Monday night. The deceased had been in failing health for some time but had been critically ill only a few days.

He was born April 3, 1859 on the same farm where he died, the son of Abraham and Mary Ann Hamilton Reid. He was a member of a pioneer famiy and the last of the generation. He was married Nov. 23, 1884, to Adelia D. Williams and in 1940 the couple observed their sixty-sixth anniversary. Mrs. Williams (sic) died March 20, 1941.

Mr. Reid, who throughout his life was a breeder of high quality livestock, was president of the Anti-Horse Thief association for thirty-four years. He was a member of Urania lodge No. 243 for forty-nine years and a lifelong member of Ebenezer Methodist church. The deceased also served as a district school trustee and a member of the non-high board.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Rex Ranson and one granddaughter, Mrs. George Martin, both of this city.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Williamson funeral home with interment in Ebenezer Cemetery.
