Alyce Douglass, 79, dies Wednesday

Alyce Susan Douglass, 79, 916 Doolin Ave., died 4 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Passavant Hospital.

She was born Aug. 1, 1904, in Morgan Co., daughter of Charles Wesley and Cora Belle Dabney Douglass. She was never married.

She is survived by two brothers; James A. Douglass of Jacksonville and William B. Douglass of Chicago; Frank E. Price of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Miss Douglass was a member of Mt. Emory Baptist Church where she served as superintendent of Sunday school several years and as financial recording secretary of the church. She was employed in the laundry department at the Jacksonville State Hospital 32 years before retiring.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Emory Baptist Church. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Gillham-Buchanan Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Emory Baptist Sunday School Fund.
