Milton Birdsell

PEORIA -- Milton N. Birdsell, 86, of 873 Grove St., Jacksonville, father of a Peoria resident, died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 1996, at Barton W. Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville.

Born Dec. 15, 1909, in Morgan County to Charles Wesley and Ella Donnie Neece Birdsell, he married Margaret Shibe on Dec. 25, 1930, in Morgan County. She died Sept. 27, 1995. One brother, two sisters and one grandchild also preceded him in death.

Surviving are four daughters, Nancy McDaniel of Peoria, Donnie Akers of Jacksonville, Betty A. Curtis of Austin, Texas, and Juanita Griffin of Fort Collins, Colo.; four sons, Joe of Encinitas, Calif., Andy of Ash Flat, Ark., Ben of Albany, N.Y., and Phil of Camarillo, Calif.; one sister, Odessa Henderson of Franklin; 31 grandchildren; 36 great- grandchildren; and one great- great-grandson.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Gillham-Buchanan Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, north of Jacksonville.

Memorials may be made to Barton W. Stone Christian Home.

Margaret Birdsell

Margaret A. Birdsell, 87, of 14 Winthrop Terrace, Jacksonville, mother of a Peoria resident, died at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 1995, at her home.

Born Feb. 1, 1908, in Morgan County to John Edgar and Maude Edna Boon Shibe, she married Milton N. Birdsell on Dec. 25, 1930, in Morgan County. He survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Nancy McDaniel of Peoria, Donnie Akers of Jacksonville, Betty A. Curtis of Austin, Texas, and Juanita Griffin of Fort Collins, Colo.; four sons, Joe of Encinitas, Calif., Andy of Ash Flat, Ark., Ben of Albany, N.Y., and Phil of Camarillo, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Phelps of Hollister, Mo., and Frances Goacher of Phoenix, Ariz.; 31 grandchildren; and 36 great- grandchildren. One grandchild preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Gillham-Buchanan Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Calling hours will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, north of Jacksonville.
