SMALL CHILD FATALLY
WOUNDED LAST WEEK
Eva May, the 2 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Pogue residing one mile north of Pisgah, was fatally wounded Thursday last week when her 6 year old cousin shot her in the back with a 22 rifle. The cousin brought the rifle into the room and in an unknown manner it was discharged, hitting the child. The bullet struck her in the back, peentrated one lung and came out the left arm. The little one was taken to Our Saviour's hospital in an effort to save her life, where she was attended by Dr. Carl Black. All efforts were in vain, however, and she passed away at 2 o'clock.
Funeral services were conducted from Williamson & Cody's undertaking parlors at 3:30 Saturday afternoon, in charge of the Rev. Crabtree of Pisgah. Interment was in east cemetery.
the coroner's verdict, at the inquest was: "She came to her death by the effects of a gun shot wound which was accidentally made by a gun in the hands of Roy Hayes, a 6 year old cousin of the deceased, playing with the gun."
