MITCHELL.
William Henry Mitchell, son of James M. and Catherine Mitchell, was born Nov. 24, 1864 and died Aug. 9, 1896. He was reared in Jacksonville and was widely known as a genial sociable fellow with many good traits of character. He was very industrious and for the past ten years was connected with the United States mail service, being a very efficient and trustworthy postal clerk. The deceased was a sufferer for some time, was a patient at the Passavant Memorial Hospital and afterward suffered a relapse. Though loving and watchful relatives and friends cared for him and the best of physicians were in attendance nothing could be done to stop the ravage of disease.
On Feb. 9, 1888, Mr. Mitchell was married to Miss Birdie Lightfoot; the union was a happy one and two children, Earl, aged 7 years, and Gladys aged 9 months, were born to them. Besides the wife and children the father, four brothers and three sisters survive him.
The funeral will be conducted at the house, 717 South West street, at 2:30 this afternoon by Rev. Dr. Samuel Moore and Rev. Dr. Wm. F. Short.
