J. Everett Long, County Native, Died in Boston

J. Everett Long, 88, a former Literberry area resident, died at the Farmingham Union Hospital in Boston, Mass. Thursday, Dec. 23.

He was born in Morgan county Sept. 5, 1894, a son of Harvey and Hannah Cox Long.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Maxine R. Loyd of St. Albans, W. Va. and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Imogene Elizabeth Long who died in the armed forces in 1945, three sisters and a brother.

Mr. Long was a retired farmer. He was an Army veteran of W.W. I and a member of the W.W. I Barracks. He was a member of International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 4, and was a former director of the Morgan County Farm Bureau and belonged to the First Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday school and served as an elder.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Williamson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Jacksonville East cemetery. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church. Friends may call 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where I.O.O.F. rites will be at 8:45 p.m.
