JACKSONVILLE EAST CEMETERY OBITUARIES

LOMB, HENRY

Jacksonville Courier, 26 Aug 1901

LOMB.

Henry Lomb died at his residence on West North street at 2:55 a.m. Sunday. His illness began some time ago by a cancer starting under his tongue and from that time hsi health gradually failed until Friday he suffered a paralytic stroke from which he could not rally. He was born in Germany in 1834 and came to this country in 1856. He arrived in Jacksonville some time during the year 1857 and for 17 or 18 years he ran a restaurant on North Main street and did a thriving little business, being noted for his honesty and his industrious and frugal habits. In 1858 the Turner Hall organization had its birth and he was one of the original members and founders of that organization and his death removes the last surviving original member. One other member is living, but he has been away so long that it is thought he has lost his good standing among the Turners.

He was married about 1859 to Miss Louise Killian and she with three children survive him. They are Miss Florence Lomb, John Lomb and Mrs. Ida Robinson, all of this city.

The funeral will be conducted at his late residence on West North street at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and will be in charge of the Turners. Interment will take place in Jacksonville cemetery.
