HAMMOND, REUBEN

HAMMOND.

Wednesday morning about 10 o'clock Reuben Hammond died at Passavant Memorial hospital. He had been ill for several weeks and Sunday was removed from his home on Franklin street to the hospital. Some time ago a fall aggravated his trouble and at the time of his removal he was in very bad condition, suffering from an absess of the lungs.

Mr. Hammond was well known about the city, having served as special policeman at various times and was for a long while janitor of the Third ward school. He was almost 63 years of age and 33 of these years have been passed in Jacksonville. Previous to hsi settlement in this city he had lived in Kentucky, having been born at Stanford, that State. deceased leaves a wife in this city and a daughter by a former marriage, who is now in Kentucky.

The funeral will occur today at 2 o'clock from the family residence and the services will be conducted by Dr. W. F. Short.
