Mrs. Willoughby Former Resident Dies in Chicago
Mrs. Sarah Fanning Willoughby, former resident of Jacksonville, passed away in Chicago at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Born in Morgan County, Jan. 10, 1872, she was the daughter of John Bob and Emily Jane Tribble Fanning.
Surviving are a son, William Mead, Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Davies and Mrs. Lena Ryan, both of Chicago; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one brother, Harvey Fanning, Jacksonville,; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Coumbes, Murrayville. One son, Ralph Carter and a daughter, Mrs. Lota Strouzas, preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Central Christian church.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday from the Gillham-Buchanan Funeral Home with Rev. William J. Boston officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville East cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Amelia Fanning died at eight o'clock Saturday evening at the home of her son Thomas Fanning, 320 North West street. Her maiden name was Amelia Tribble and she was born in Nashville, Tenn., Aug. 29, 1840. She came to Illinois when fourteen years of age and married John B. Fanning in 1857. The marriage took place in the old court hours which then stood in central park. She was a true and consistent member of the Methodist church for many years.
The deceased is survived by her husband, John B. Fanning. She was the mother of fourteen children, ten of whom are living. The children surviving are: Mrs. M.E. Cooper of Woodson; J.W. Fanning of this city; Mrs. N.C. Willoughby of Riggston, J.S. Fanning, R.J. Fanning, Mrs. S.S. Meade and J.T. Fanning, all of Jacksonville; Mrs. L.A. Andres of Winchester, Il., M. Fanning of this city, and Mrs. M.M. Coombes of Woodson.
The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the family residence on North West street. Interment will be made in East cemetery
