Couchman
Died at her residence on Lurton Street, at 1:30 p.m., Nov. 16, 1895, Mrs. Elizabeth Couchman, after an illness of almost a year's duration.
The deceased was born Nov. 25, 1807, in Nicholas county, KY., being the daughter of Benjamin West. She was united in marriage with Michael Couchman in 1826, and five years later they removed to Jacksonville, but subsequently went to Adams county, but a few years later returned to this city to reside permanently. Mr. Couchman went to California in 1853, as thousands of others were doing at that time, and soon after arriving there he was taken sick, and after a short illness passed away.
Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Couchman, seven of whom ar living, namely: Mrs. Halpin, of Pittsfield; Mrs. Warrington, of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Abrahm, of Rockpoint; Wm. Couchman, of White Hall; Melner Couchman, of Kansas City; Mrs. V. Carpenter and Amos Couchman, of this city.
