ALLEN, LOUISA "SUE" CARTER


Louisa 'Sue' Allen, 77, of Jacksonville died Wednesday evening, June 10, 1998, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born March 5, 1921, in Chicago, the daughter of Oadie and Cornelia Wright Carter. She married George Allen and he survives.

She is also survived by one daughter, Nancy (husband, Odell) Johnson and one son, David Mark (wife, Pamela) both of St. Paul, Minn., one stepson, George Hamilton of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one brother, Oadie St. (wife, Bernice) Carter of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by one grandson.

Mrs. Allen was a clerk of the Minnesota Department of Transportation for several years while living in St. Paul, Minn. She was a member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church where she served on the Steward Board and was a volunteer at Passavant Area Hospital. She was also a member of the Church Women United.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bethel A.M.E. Church with burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery. The remains will be taken to the church on hour prior to the services. Friends may call after noon today at the Cody and Son Memorial Home with the family meeting friends from 5:30-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Bethel A.M.E. Church.
