Edgar Robinson, 93, of Ashland dies

Ashland - Edgar E. Robinson, 93, of rural Ashland died Saturday afternoon, April 9, at his residence.

He was born June 30, 1894, in Morgan County, son of Joel and Mae Boston Robinson. He married Minnie Foster Swain in 1926 and she died April 4, 1949. He later married Ruth Jackson Jones on Nov. 9, 1953, and she survives.

Also surviving are a son, Edgar E. Jr. of rural Alexander; two stepsons, Kenneth Swain of Alexander and Sam Jones of Manchester; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Emma Grady of Alexander and Mrs. Hazel Cuoco of Moline; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several step grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Clyde, Clyde Eugene Robinson; a stepson, John W. Swain; a brother, Leslie; and two sisters, Frances and Bessie.

Mr. Robinson was actively engaged in farming until the age of 92 and was a lifetime member of the Farm Bureau. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I.

Services will held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Ashland with burial at Berea Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to the Ashland First Baptist Church of Berea Cemetery.
