ATHENS--Eva Dorean Harrelson Yoakum of RR1 Athens died Sunday November 13 at 6:35 p.m. at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg at the age of 76.
She was born January 5, 1918 in Macedonia, the daughter of John and Alma Mae Phillips Harrelson. She married Allen Yoakum on September 27, 1936. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one niece and one nephew.
Mrs. Yoakum was employed by Canterbury Seed Company of Athens, Turkey Farm and Jefferies Orchard and retired from Memorial Medical Center after 18 years of service.
Surviving are her husband Allen; one son Larry Yoakum of Springfield; two daughters, Shirley Laurik of Springfield and Linda Kay Wasilewski of Athens; foster son Steven Edward Yoakum of Cantrall; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother Horace Harrelson of Saugus, California; one sister Geneva Harrelson of West Frankfort; and two nieces.
Services were held Thursday, November 17 at 11 a.m. at Mott and Henning Funeral home in Athens with Rev. Don Niesler officiating. Burial was in West Cemetery, Athens.
