Funeral services for Mrs Mary Margaret Turner, wife of John O Turner of Tice community, were held here Saturday afternoon, short services being held at the Satorius Funeral Home followed by services at St Pauls Evangelical church at 2pm conducted by Rev Roland Mernitz.

Mrs Turner died Thursday morning, January 18, at the home of her son Luther Turner in Springfield, at the age of seventy four years. She and Mr Turner had been in Springfield for some time, spending the winter at the home of their son.

She was born in the Indian Point community on March 2, 1865, the daughter of Christopher and Hannah Custer. A brother, Charles Custer, died only a little more than a week before her death. She spent the early years of her life at Indian Point, and was married in 1881 to Edward Winters. To them were born four children, Mrs Maude McNaught who died several years ago, William, who died at the age of seven, Reuben of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Charles of Springfield. Mr Winters died in 1888 and in 1890 she was married to John O Turner and spent the remainder of her life on a farm at Tice.

To Mr and Mrs Turner were born three children, Mrs Gifford Ortman and Miss Dora Turner of Petersburg and Luther Turner of Springfield. Surviving are the five children named above and one brother, Henry Custer of Merced, California, seventeen grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends. Mrs Turner had endeared herself to a great many people and will be greatly missed in her home and in the community.

Six grandsons, David and Warren Winters, John and Henry Ortman and Billy and Jack Turner served as pallbearers and granddaughters-in-law cared for the flowers at the funeral service.
