Neville A. Shipley of 221 S. Sixth Street, Petersburg, died Tuesday, February 22 at 1:11 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was 91 years of age.
Mr. Shipley was born March 10, 1891 in Maysville, Ky., the son of Quincy and Betty Rains Shipley. He married Isabelle Montgomery in Springfield, and she preceded him in death in 1931. He then married Alma I. Schoneweis Boeker on April 12, 1944 in Menard County.
A retired farmer, Mr. Shipley served in the Army during World War I. He was a member of the Central United Presbyterian Church and Kirby-Watkins Post No. 198, American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Alma; one daughter, Mrs. Bess Jean Bradley of rural Petersburg, one son, Robert N. Shipley of rural Petersburg; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Helen Louise Stier of Leesburg, Florida; one stepson, Albert Boeker of Taylorville; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of a family of 12.
Services were held Friday, February 25 at 1:30 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg with Dr. Kenneth Churchill officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
