*Corbus Niemeier Dies at Home Near Tallula*Corbus Niemeier, born in the Richland community in Sangamon county and a resident of the Tallula area for many years, died at his home southeast of Tallula at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the age of 88.
Mr. Niemeier was the son of Weert and Catherine Schone Niemeier, and spent his entire life as a farmer. He married Miss Ethel Church in Jacksonville on March 11, 1914, and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Weert Niemeier of the U.S. Air Force, based in California; and James and George Niemeier of Tallula; nine grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Annie Miller of Tallula.
Mr. Niemeier had been a member for many years of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Pleasant Plains.
Funeral services are to be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec . 19, conducted by Rev. Kenneth Wegner of Pleasant Plains and burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

George Francis Niemeier, 88, of Tallula died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born on June 12, 1919, in Tallula, to Cobus and Ethel Clark Niemeier. He married Margaret Johnson on Sept. 16, 1939, in Petersburg.
He is survived by two daughters, Janet (Charles) Morgan of Petersburg and Kathleen (Steve) Smith of Tallula; five grandsons; three granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His wife and two brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Niemeier was retired from Menard County as road commissioner for District 7. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains. He served on the Tallula High School Board of Education and Tallula Elementary School Board of Education.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains, with the Rev. Don Pritchard officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, Tallula BLS or Zion Lutheran Church.
