Berry Woodrum, a native of Kentucky but a resident of the Tallula community the past 75 years, died Thursday night, May 24 at the Tallula-Walker nursing home. Had he lived until his next birthday, he would have been nine-four years old.
Mr. Woodrum was born 10 Oct 1872 in Casey Co., Kentucky. He was married 6 Sept. 1881 in Liberty, Kentucky to Loubell Lowe, and the couple came to Illinois where they followed farming for many years. He and Mrs. Woodrum celebrated their seventy-fourth wedding anniversary last September 6.
Surviving are his wife, two sons, Irvin C. of Tallula and DeRoy, of Bartonville; three daughters, Beulah (Mrs. Leslie Raikes of Greenview), Mrs. Ezra Masten and Mrs. Harvey Schoneweis, Tallula; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; one half-brother Benjamin Woodrum, Tallula and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body was taken to the Thompson-Harms & Hurley Funeral home where it remained until Sunday. Services were held Sunday afternoon at the Tallula Christian Church with Rev. George Bateman officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Tallula.
