Died, Jan. 29th, 1879, at the residence of his father, in Virginia, Cass county, of consumption, George S. Wade. Deceased was born in Bath county, Kentucky, the 29th of March 1845. He emigrated to Menard county in 1864, where he resided several years and made many warm friends. In 1867, failing health caused him to seek relief in the State of Texas where he remained about a year., and returned to Illinois without much relief. He afterwards sought Florida as a place for relief, but all to no beneficial purpose.

In 1874 he was married to a Miss Beills, in Paris Kentucky, who preceded him to the unknown world about two years ago, leaving a little girl about 18 months old. Since his wife's death Mr. Wade's health has been rapidly failing and he was compelled to go to the house of his parents, F.A. and M.L. Wade, Virginia, Cass county, where he gradually sank until death's summons relieved him. He was conscious to the last and recognized the approach of death. He was a member of the Greenview Lodge, No 653, A.F. and A.M., and of Dewitt Chapter No. 119. He was a brother-in-law of Sheriff Fred Wilkinson. While in the county Mr. Wade won the proud distinction of being an honorable upright fair minded man, and was an honored Mason in the Greenview Lodge under whose auspices he as interred in Rose Hill Cemetery. His funeral was preached by Elder M. M. Goode in the Christian Church, Petersburg, and was listened to by a large number of sympathizing friends.
