MRS. HANNAH BOWERS

Died, at Petersburg, Ill., at the residence of her son-in-law, John W. Tice, Esq., on the 17th day of May, 1875, at 8:30 p.m., Mrs. Hannah Bowers, in the 78th year of her age.

The deceased was born in Shenandoah county, Va., Feb. 23d, 1798 (her maiden name was Hannah Getz). She was united in marriage to John Bowers, of the same county, A.D. 1816, and in a few years after, moved to Rockingham county, and, after her husband's death she emigrated with her son-in-law, Martin Neff, to Menard county, Ill., in 1854, and has made the residence of John Tice her home until he decease.

She became a Christian at the early age of sixteen years, when she united herself with the Lutheran church in her native county, and has over since lived a consistent Christian.

She was confined to her room for about seven weeks before her decease, and had been an invalid for five or six years. She passed away peacefully and quietly, giving evidence of the most beautiful trusting faith in Him who said: "Come unto me al ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest."

"Dearest mother, thou hast left us,
Here thy loss we deeply feel,
But 'tis God that hath benefit us,
He can all our sorrows heal."
For earth has too much of sorrow and pain.
Oh bid her not back to its shores again.
