BRADLEY, ANDREW JACKSON

Petersburg Observer Newspaper - April 2, 1909

Death of Jackson Bradley.

Elderly man passes away after long illness. Resident in county fifty-two year. Died, Tuesday evening at five o'clock, March 30, Andrew Jackson Bradley at the age of 76 years, 2 months, and 7 days, after an illness of long duration. The deceased has been a resident of this county for forty-one years, coming here from Kentucky. He was married to Sarah Markwell in 1850 and to them were born ten children, two of whom with the mother survives. They are Mrs. Alex Bradley and Mrs. O.B. Power both of Petersburg. The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock from the late residence. Rev. Cherry officiating. Interment was made in the Hornback cemetery. Mr. Bradley was one of the most substantial and highly respected citizens of the county and his death is a source of sorrow to the entire community.


GRANDSTAFF, ALMA

Petersburg Observer Newspaper - August 20, 1881

Died.

On Indian Creek, Aug. 7th of congestion of the lungs, Alma, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Grandstaff. Interred at Lebanon Cemetery.


KILLION, MARY

Petersburg Democrat, August 9, 1873

Died.

On the 6th inst., at her residence on the east side of the river. Mrs. Mary Killion; aged about 53 years. The deceased was the widow of the late John Killion who died in March of last year and at the time of her death was the administratrix of the estate left by him. She leaves a circle of relatives and friends to mourn her untimely demise.


HORNBACK, WILLIAM

Petersburg Observer Newspaper - April 25, 1924

William Hornback Dead.

William Hornback, one of the oldest men in Menard county, died at the home of his son, Cap Hornback, east of this city Sunday, April 20, at the age of eighty four years. Mr. Hornback was a lifelong resident of this county. He is survived by two sons, Cap Hornback of this city, and Peter Hornback, whose home is in Oklahoma and one daughter; Mrs. Hugh Park of this county. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the late residence Wednesday afternoon. Elder C.E. Smoot officiating. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
