School Girl Dead

Christine Tippett, 13- year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Tippett, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at St. John's Hospital of an ear infection and complications.

The little girl was born in Petersburg on December 27, 1939, daughter of David and Luella Sewell Tippett, and spent all her life here. Surviving are her parents and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Bernice Mayberry, Mrs. Beulah Mae Watts, Mrs. Mary Jane Belmar, and Harold Tippett, all of Springfield; Mrs. Elsie Hill, Tampa, FL; Miss Nora Ellen Tippett, Pekin; and Raymond, Richard, Gaye, and Patricia Ann, all of Petersburg; one grandmother, Mrs. Cora Young, of Springfield; and several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

The body was taken to the Thompson-Harms & Hurley Funeral Home, and services were held at the Central Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Sunday, conducted by Rev. Paul Lundell. Burial was in Farmer's Point Cemetery.


TIPPETT, LUELLA M.

Services for Luella M. Tippett of Peoria will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hurley Funeral Home, Petersburg, with the Rev. Roy Burrill officiating. Burial wil be in Farmers Point Cemetery.

Mrs. Tippett, 89, died at 2:10 a.m. Thursday at her residence. Preceding her in death were three children, Christine, Raymond, and Harold; three sisters and one brother.

Surviving are seven daughters, Bernice Mayberry of Springfield, Beulah Mae Watts of Clinton, Ark., Elsie Hill of St. Petersburg Beach, Fla., Mary Jane Foutch of New Berlin, Nora Tippett of Mission, Texas, Patricia Colvin of Braceville, and Gaye Kliene of Peoria; one son, Richard of Joliet; 28 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.


TIPPETT, BETTY JUNE MONTGOMERY

PEKIN - Betty June Tippett, 69, of Pekin, formerly of Mason City, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at her home.

She was born March 7, 1931, in Dana, the daughter of James and Ica Harms Montgomery. She married Oscar E. Tippett Jr. in 1948 in Albion. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Tull.

Mrs. Tippett was a home health-care worker for the Department of Rehabilitation Services and a member of Petersburg Four Square Church.

Survivors: husband, Oscar; two sons, James E. (wife, Charlotte) Tippett Sr. of Petersburg and Robert (wife, Linda) Tippett Sr. of Alma; three daughters, Phyllis Parks of Pekin, Cheryl (husband, Randy) Hadfield of Downs and Sandra (husband, Daniel) DeVore of Easton; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, James Montgomery of Pekin; and three sisters, Dorothy Kramer of Mount Carmel, Mary Lou Kramer of Kellogg, Idaho, and Shirley Lempke of West Salem.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg, the Rev. Paul Griffith officiating. Burial: Farmers Point Cemetery in Tallula.


TIPPETT, OSCAR EARL JR.

ALMA - Oscar Earl Tippett Jr., 84, of Alma, formerly of Petersburg, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.

He was born Dec. 10, 1920, in Petersburg, the son of Oscar Earl and Ethel Workman Tippett Sr. He married Betty June Montgomery Tippett in 1948 in Albion; she died in 2002. A son and daughter, Jim and Judith, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Tippett retired as a welder from Caterpillar in Peoria after 31 years. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was a member of Petersburg Four Square Church.

Survivors: son, Robert (wife, Linda) Tippett Sr. of Alma; three daughters, Phyllis (husband, Alan) Flynn and Cheryl (husband, Randy) Hadfield, both of Downs, and Sandra (husband, Daniel) DeVore of Easton; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Donald Tippett of Mission, Texas, Jack Hayes of Buena Vista, Calif., Robert Tippett (companion, Kathy Otto) of Springfield and Paul Tippett of Carrier, Miss.; and four sisters, Ester Alguire of Tallahassee, Fla., Beverly Savage of Payson, Ariz., and Eileen Hall and Joan Papas, both of Creve Coeur.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Hurley Funeral Home, Petersburg. Burial: Farmer's Point Cemetery.
